The Hoover Arts Alliance has awarded a $500 Grant to the Hoover Songbirds for their continuing contributions to the Citizens of Hoover. A recent article in the Hoover Sun highlighted the work of the Songbirds to bring happiness to assisted living and senior facilities in Hoover and Jefferson County. The past several years while dealing with a pandemic it has been especially hard for Seniors who have been isolated from friends and family to maintain a positive attitude. The Songbirds have brought not only cheer but a little normalcy back to folks with their music and positive spirit.
A spokesperson for the Hoover Arts Alliance said “The article in the Hoover Sun reflects how this type ‘music therapy’ can improve the mental health for some of those groups who may have been neglected during the pandemic. The Songbirds also serve as an example to older citizens that life still has possibilities to participate in meaningful work into their 80’s and in some cases 90’s. Life is never over till it is over. It is this positive influence on the community that we at the Hoover Arts Alliance enjoy encouraging and rewarding.”
The Director, Fred Ernst, was delighted to have the group recognized for their hard work.
